Fabulous Fruit
This week, the Reception class have been looking closely at fruit and vegetables. We used magnifying glasses to see if they had any seeds. The children then thought about words to describe the smell and the texture of the food.
When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.

As part of our English and History work, Year 1 have been busy making timelines of the events that happened during the Great Fire of London!
Over half term, Year 4 have made some amazing models of rivers – they have been labelled to show all of the knowledge the children took from our half term studying rivers. We’ve had drawings, computer designs, Lego, cardboard, mudrok, paper maiche and clay – all of which have been amazing!
Thank you to everyone that spent any time making a model or drawing a picture – it has been lovely to see how much you have learned and how well you can make your own river!
Year 3 have been investigating at what soil is made up of. We took a sample of soil from our school grounds, mixed it with water and then waited patiently to see if different layers formed. We observed layers of sand or rock, silt, clay, water and organic/plant matter in different amounts.
Year 2 have been learning all about different ways to communicate as part of our tolerance week. We have learnt to write our names in braille and sign some British Sign Language.
Year 3 have been learning how to tile print. We used our sketches of ammonites to create motifs. We then turned the motifs into tile prints.
The Reception class have been looking at different types of printing. Today, we printed with animal feet!
Year 5 had a great day learning scooter safety skills today!
Dance club have been working really hard this term on our performance for the Primary Dance Festival at William Brookes next week. We had lots of fun making our own tie-dye t-shirts for the show and everyone enjoyed finally seeing the end result. We can't wait to show you our dance!
Today, year 1 have been busy creating their own version of Steve Antony's 'The Queen's Hat.' They decided to change the title to 'The Teacher's Scarf' and had lots of excellent ideas about what they could include. Many of them used alliteration and onomatopoeia words in their writing too! We are so proud of you Year 1!
Year 5 have been working on multiplication facts this week. They made times tables fortune-tellers at home and used them to practise their knowledge!
Year 4 have been studying William Morris this half term in Design & Technology - here are our very own wallpaper designs in the style of William Morris. We designed our own motifs with William Morris designs as inspiration, transferred our motifs to a polystyrene block and then used this block to print our sheet. We hope you love them as much as we do!
