Funny faces!
This week Year 1 have been creating collages to make funny faces. We had lots of fun creating these!
When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.
This week Year 1 have been creating collages to make funny faces. We had lots of fun creating these!
Children in Nursery have been learning about healthy eating and oral hygiene this week. They have helped to prepare snacks, they were really sensible cutting fruit and laying the table, and persevered with washing and drying the cup and bowls afterwards. We talked about the importance of healthy foods and what they do to support their growth and development. Well done children
In outdoor learning this week KS1 children have been looking at the life cycle of frogs. Children enjoyed a story called 'how to grow frogs' and looked at some frogspawn. We made a safe area for the frogspawn to grow, where the children can also observe their development.
This week Year 3 have been working really hard on learning how to do column addition. We used dienes to help us work out the sum.
This week year 3 have started our DT project on mechanisms. We worked together to maker sliders and levers.
This week Reception class have been working collaboratively to create large pictures of fruit. We looked closely at different types of fruit and decided which ones to add to our pictures. We have also started making some fruit out of clay. The children used tools to create texture on the clay surface.
This week Year 2 have been looking at seascapes. We really liked A Great Wave Off Kanagawa by Hokusai and decided to create our own versions. We used what we have learned about warm and cool colours and foreground and background to create some amazing images!
Year 3 have been learning all about fossils and how they are formed. We have been researching, making notes and writing about what we have learnt. All these interesting facts can now be used in our sentence stacking lessons based on the book 'The Street Beneath our Feet' by Charlotte Guillain and Yuval Zommer.
Fletcher and Isabelle are two of our budding Guitarists, who have lessons with Mr Ashford from Shropshire Music Service every Thursday morning.
Other pupils are learning different instruments, including Flute or Keyboard with Mrs Kirkland. Did you know we also have our own Drum Kit, and professional drummer Mr Banks visits for lessons on Tuesdays. Classes in KS2 have also been learning Samba drumming with our Music teacher Mrs Hughes.
Learning to play a musical instrument is a great hobby, and all music pupils can take part in weekend workshops and everything from rock bands, folk orchestras and choirs at the Music Service.
What instrument would you like to play? Have a look at the Shropshire Music Service website for everything on offer! https://www.shropshiremusicservice.org.uk/
As part of our Coastline topic Y2 we have been learning about plastic pollution. We have been thinking about how we can turn plastic bottles and tops into amazing new things to help reduce the impact plastic waste has on our wonderful wildlife. Today we have been creating mini-ocean habitats in a bottle
This week, the Reception class have been looking closely at fruit and vegetables. We used magnifying glasses to see if they had any seeds. The children then thought about words to describe the smell and the texture of the food.
As part of our English and History work, Year 1 have been busy making timelines of the events that happened during the Great Fire of London!
