Welly Wanderers Fun!
Children in Nursery have been learning about The Green Man this week, and enjoyed making some lovely crowns so that they too could be camouflaged in the wood, enabling them to look after their environment. Fabulous fun!
When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.

This week Year 1 have been making stamps using card, string and sticks. They each chose a weather condition to represent in their stamps. We are looking forward to seeing you add some colour and print your stamps next week!
The Reception class have been busy making safari animals this week. We did some research and thought about what we could use to create our animals. Here are a few of our creations.
Year 5 have been making paper from recycled materials. We had mixed feelings about the texture of the paper pulp, but our results were successful!
On Monday, the Reception class set out on safari. We created dens so that we could watch the animals without being seen. The children took binoculars and magnifying glasses to see what they could find. They made up fantastic stories that we shared back in class.
Year one has been learning how to prepare different fruits and vegetables! We learnt how to mash, peel, grate, tear and chop!
Super Sound Science!
This week Y2 have been having lots of fun learning about sound in science. We have investigated different sources of sound and found out that musical instruments make sounds in different ways. We worked together to compose loud (and sometimes quiet) music! We learned that sounds are made when things vibrate the surrounding air. We put some rice on the skin of a drum to help us see the vibrations. We observed that the louder the sound, the bigger the vibrations!
Year 4 experienced what it might be like to venture into Aladdin's cave. They used their senses to paint a picture in their minds.
In science this week Year 3 have been learning all about the functions of roots of a plant. Did you know a carrot is actually a taproot and hyacinths have fibrous roots. We looked through magnifying glasses at the roots and found xylem (tubes) that help to move water and nutrients around the plant.
This week, the Reception class have added more to their garden area. We planted some bean seeds that we started growing in small pots in the classroom. Hopefully you will see them growing against our blue fence.
This week Y2 have been busy exploring our new reading area.
This week Year 1 have been busy looking around to see what improvements could be made to make our school even better! They came up with things like more books and chairs in the library, better technology in the hall and more equipment for the outdoor areas. Well done Year 1!
