Seaside scenes
The Reception class have been working together to create seaside pictures. They researched what they might see on the beach or in the sea and thought about how to recreate these items using different materials.
When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.

This week in art, Year 4 have been looking at Scarab Beetles which has linked into our topic work on Ancient Egypt and also with our work on symmetry in Maths. Some of the children got very technical with their drawings using mirrors and rulers to check their work was perfectly symmetrical! What fabulous work year 4!
The Nursery children have been thinking about life cycles, and in particular, butterflies. They've enjoyed all sorts of fun activities to support their learning (including some more of Jessie's lovely art work!), and had fun this afternoon making butterflies from bricks and their own bodies!
This week the whole school performed at the Birch Meadow in Broseley alongside children from Barrow and Broseley CofE school to showcase our Jubilee songs. It was great to come together as the three Broseley schools and perform. We sang a range of songs from each decade the Queen has been on the thrown to celebrate this milestone. Everyone sang so beautifully, despite the weather and the sun shone for the final song. Well done everyone!
Year two have come to school dressed as Marvellous Monarchs and Fairlytale Folk. They cooked a banquet for a picky Prince, explored exhibits in our class museum and built our own castles! They looked amazing!
Year 4 have been showing how super they are at singing by learning our songs for the Jubilee concert at the Birch next week. They have a special role to play in one of the songs, we hope you spot it!
This week our friends from Broseley C of E school came and joined us for a multi skills afternoon.
Some children from Year 5 and 6 ran a range of different activities, which included batting skills, hockey, kurling and bowling. The activity leaders did an amazing job.
Reception class have been studying the painting 'Les Betes de la Mer' by Matisse this week. We talked about what we could see in the painting and the techniques that the artist used. The children worked in groups to create their own interpretations.
Year 1 have been thinking about how humans change over time. We talked about some of the things we can now do that we couldn't as a baby. They brought their favourite baby photo in and played a guessing game to see if they could match the picture to the correct person. They had lots of fun!.
At forest school this week, the Reception class used natural items to create sounds and music. We used sticks, stones and leaves amongst other things! The children experimented with the different sounds they could make. They even made a forest school band!
Year 3 have been learning how to prepare and cook a variety of predominantly savoury dishes using a range of cooking techniques. They prepared and cooked ratatouille and then enjoyed tasting it!
Year 2 had an amazing day at the seaside! The sun was shining all day and they all had lots of fun on the beach.
