Welly Wanderers
Children have enjoyed our Welly Wanderers sessions this week in Nursery. They explored the wood, played on the swing and loved their hot chocolate at story time!
When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.

Year 3 have been learning about the Stone Age. We have looked at cave paintings and used charcoal and pastels to recreate our own Stone Age art!
In Year 5 we have been thinking about our knowledge of states of matter, including solids, liquids and gases. We learnt how molecules behave differently depending on their state and acted as molecules ourselves!
This week, the Reception class have continued to explore the story 'We're going on a bear hunt'. We tried to experience all of the things that the family did on their bear hunt. The children looked closely at the swishy swashy grass, they talked about what water felt like and they made some squelchy squerchy mud! We visited the little forest school area and acted out the whole story.
This week in year 4 we have been curious about how we digest our food. We co-operated in teams to create a live model of how this works! We had great fun and can explain the process really well now!
The Reception class have had a fantastic week and have all settled in very quickly. Our topic this half term is 'Let's explore'. We have explored the school grounds and got very wet in the process! We have also been reading 'We're going on a bear hunt' and have started to create a large collage map of the family's journey. Here are some photographs of what we have created so far.
Year 3 have had a wonderful afternoon at our Mexican themed party. We enjoyed preparing and eating tacos. We listened to music and loved the glitter bar! Have a great summer holiday everyone!
This month Natasha in Year 5 made the selfless decision to have 34cms of hair cut off to donate to The Little Princess Trust! She did this in order for them to provide real hair wigs for children undergoing cancer and other advanced treatments. Along with the hair donation she managed to raise an enormous £540 to support the creation of a wig from her hair. Well done Natasha!
Year 5 have been learning about light in Science this term. We made our own periscopes to understand how light is reflected.
This week Year 3 have been learning all about snails. We have learnt lots of fascinating facts and also created some beautiful snail art.
The Reception class have been working together to create seaside pictures. They researched what they might see on the beach or in the sea and thought about how to recreate these items using different materials.
This week in art, Year 4 have been looking at Scarab Beetles which has linked into our topic work on Ancient Egypt and also with our work on symmetry in Maths. Some of the children got very technical with their drawings using mirrors and rulers to check their work was perfectly symmetrical! What fabulous work year 4!
