When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.
This week year 3 had a health and safety session with the fire department. They learnt what to do if there was a fire in the home and about how to keep themselves safe!
We even got to see what it was like to work for the fire service!
The Peridot Class enjoyed learning how to programme the Beebots. They made them move to different points on the Beebot mat. The Year One children then made their own Beebot mats.
Emerald class were tasked with creating a poster about the school value ‘respect’ which will go onto our class display board in the hall.
The children have shared their ideas on how we can be respectful to others and to the world. 🌎
Diamond class have been looking at different ways of opening a new paragraph in their writing.
This could be using:
• adverbial phrase
• speech
• character description using a range of nouns/pronouns/synonyms
• use of a subordinate clause
• action word or onomatopoeia
• question
• repetition of a word or phrase
The children are so creative, they should feel really proud of their ideas!
Amethyst Class have been enjoying their Science lessons, where they have been investigating and comparing the melting rates of different types of chocolate!

Our Young Voices 2026 choir were so excited to meet Andy at the BP Pulse Arena! They all had the most amazing time taking part in the largest choir in the world. A truly fantastic experience for them all!
Nursery had a great time enjoying the snow during their Forest School session last week. Children (and grown ups!) especially loved sliding down the bank!
We had a fabulously wet and muddy Santa Dash this week. Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Thank you to Emma and our Bronze Ambassadors for organising the event.
Children in school and nursery have had a real treat this morning opening class Christmas presents under the Christmas Tree in the hall! A huge thank you to our wonderful staff for their efforts in fundraising this year, and also to our amazing school community for your support. It is so lovely to be able to provide the enrichment activities for the children. We hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas!
Baby and Toddler group have been busy in the run up to the holidays. They enjoyed various Christmas activities and made lovely gifts. Thank you for all your support and we'll see you on Wednesday 7th January 2026! Merry Christmas everyone! 
A huge thank you to all of our children and parents for the food bank donations that have come into school this morning; they will be delivered to the food bank this afternoon. This generosity will make a real difference to families in need this festive season.
On Wednesday, two of our children represented John Wilkinson Primary School at the initial 318 Trust Belonging Network meeting. The ideas the students came up with were wonderful to hear and each and every one of them contributed within small group and wider discussions. We look forward to seeing the Belonging Network making a positive impact for all children in school and throughout the Trust.
