Gardening in Emerald Class
Children in Emerald Class had a lovely afternoon in the sun at forest school! They planted some sunflower seeds and predicted how tall they would grow.
When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.

This week, our iRock bands performed for the whole school and their parents. It is wonderful to see the children's confidence growing with each performance!
A group of our Year 6 children attended the Cressage Cup Competition. Both the football and High 5 teams did really well. Emma and Miss Slarke would like to commend the children on their behaviour and respect shown towards each other and their opposition.
We have held a Mother's Day gift sale during the school day to help the children treat the special ladies in their lives. The children have really enjoyed being able to choose something special.
A group of pupils in Year 6 have spent some of their lunchtimes with our clay expert, Emma, creating some beautiful, light-up fairy house toadstools. We are very lucky to have our own kiln to enable these activities to take place.
Children at Parent, Baby and Toddler Group had a lovely time celebrating World Book Day with some exciting activities!
John Wilkinson Primary School and Nursery have enjoyed a fantastic Roald Dahl–themed World Book Day, with children taking part in making dream jars, Willy Wonka themed chocolate experiments and a Miss Trunchbull Boot Camp! A wonderful way to celebrate creativity and our shared love of reading.
The Reception children have been getting arty today, making spaceships for the little alien Beegu from our Literacy story book. These will look wonderful hanging in our art area!
On a windy afternoon, Peridot Class have planted some daffodils 🌼
We will look forward to seeing them come into flower next week!
Children were interested in puppets this week, so we got the puppet theatre out. They all independently had a go at telling a story, with lots of lovely narrative and much excitement!
Our Year 5 pupils were kindly invited to the matinée performance of Matilda the Musical Jr at William Brookes School. What a treat it was, and so inspirational for our Year 5 pupils to see what hard work and dedication to the performing arts can lead to.
This morning, sapphire class had their very own Starbooks café! We had hot chocolate and read mystery books from our Starbooks bags!
It was great to see the children embracing new books and trying new styles and authors!
I told them when they get older and life is hectic, they will love the opportunity to sit in a cosy café with a good book – they felt very grown up then!
