Year 3 TT Rockstars
Our Year 3 class are working so hard on their TT Rockstars, and making amazing progress. Well done everyone!
When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.
Our Year 3 class are working so hard on their TT Rockstars, and making amazing progress. Well done everyone!
Children in Nursery had a lovely week learning about the celebration of Chinese New Year. They looked at various ways of finding out information whether through books or using technology. They painted Chinese letters and dragons, took part in our role play Chinese takeaway and tried lots of different foods. Yum!
Thank you to all of our Toddler Group families that have supported our new group. Children and parents have had lots of fun! We return on Wednesday 20th February 2024 and look forward to seeing you then!
Year 6 have been investigating insoluble and soluble materials.
In groups they went around the classroom in a carousel, testing different materials to see if it would dissolve in water. They made sure to keep it a fair test by ensuring certain variables were kept the same. Once finished, we discussed and wrote our results as a class.
With curry powder, vinegar, mustard and coffee on the materials list, it was quite stinky in the classroom afterwards!
We had a really lovely day celebrating National Storytelling Week across the school. From creative writing lessons themed around dragons in class, to dressing up as the world's most fearsome dragon, the children have been super storytellers!
A big thankyou to the Shropshire Music Service for providing us in KS1 with a really inspiring storytelling workshop. The children loved learning about the Broseley dragon and experiencing this story through song and dance.
Year groups have produced beautiful writing which they shared with classes and read aloud in assembly - from designing and describing their own dragon to writing stories about the dragons in Harry Potter, we have been super creative!
Thank you for your kind donations for dressing up. These funds will be added to our library fund.
Our Nursery children had a wonderful experience with the exciting activities they took part in last week as part of National Storytelling week!
Year 4 have been naming and locating some significant world rivers and discovering which continents and countries they can be found in.
Alison from the Dogs Trust visited year 3 and 4 to talk about caring for dogs and how to keep ourselves and our pets safe! It was really interesting, and we all learnt new skills and ways to look after dogs, as well as lots of 'do's and dont's'.
We learnt about how to approach dogs we may see in public and what to do if an unfamiliar dog was to come up to us.
Sadly, we see all too often the effects of dog attacks and they were often started innocently...we are pleased that our children now have some skills to try and stop this from happening to them!
The children in Year 1 have been learning about instruction writing and have taken the role of a penguin keeper at the sea-life centre! The children made their own pet penguin and acted out how to look after a penguin, including feeding the penguin and cleaning out its messy pen!
In our Geography topic this term, 'Coastline', Year 1 are learning about maps. The children studied maps of the local area to learn about what a human feature of the environment was and the symbols which we can see on a map. We then made a tourist guide book of the human features in Broseley!
The Reception class have been busy making bird feeders this week. We looked at lots of different designs and decided to make some with yogurt pots and toilet roll middles. We hung them out in forest school and we shall revisit to have a look at them to see how much has been eaten!
